Kogi State Governor Idris Wada has relieved the Chairman of the Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB-), Jibrin Usman, of his job. The development is with immediate effect. According to the governor this is line with his promise to restructure the state SUBEB. The governor also sacked all other members of the board, and announced a six-man interim management committee to run the affairs of the board. Salami Ojonaun will chair the committee. The governor said the sacked officials are to hand over all government property in their possession to the interim chairman. “The interim committee is to quickly effect all payments of salaries of genuine and certified teaching and non-teaching staff under the board’s supervision,” he said. The committee is tasked with cleaning up the administrative and technical anomalies in the board, with a view to re-positioning it for effective performance. Teachers and indigenes of the state welcomed the dismissal of the Usman-chaired board. -
