Scores of women, including female journalists, held a peaceful protest in Sokoto on Tuesday against the kidnapping of the Chibok girls. The protest was organised by the state chapter of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in conjunction with the State Ministry of Women and Chidren Affairs. Receiving the protesters, Governor Aliyu Wamakko said the day should be used to pray for peace and security throughout the country. Wamakko, who spoke through the Women and Children Affairs Commissioner, Hajiya Kulu Nuhu, said “prayers will help in finding lasting solutions to the security challenge in Nigeria.”
